Strange Happenings

So as far as I know, it wasn't a full moon last night or the night before. In fact, the last full moon was January 22 and the next full moon is February 21. So what gives for the strange happenings in my building?

Around 12am this morning the fire alarm went off in the building. I was sleeping so soundly that I slept right through it. Until the security guy spoke into the speaker and said that the alarm was triggered on the 11th floor (we're on the 9th). But the fire department came and they fixed the problem after 20 minutes and all was quiet again.

This morning around 7am, the fire alarm goes off again! This time it rings for a good 30 minutes before security gets on the speaker. When he finally does, he says there's a small fire in some room on the 11th floor (we're on the 9th!!) and that we shouldn't panic and we should stay in our apartments. Papa heads off to the kitchen to grab a glass of water and Mama asks me if I smell something. I did smell something, I could smell smoke! Papa couldn't smell it because his nose is clogged up (get well soon!). We turned on the tv to watch the building's security cameras and there were lots of people standing outside of the lobby with their winter coats over their jammies. Uh oh, should we go too? The smoke smell was getting stronger!

Anyway, eventually the alarm turned off and we decided to go back to bed. Until 2 hours later when security got back on the speaker and said that the elevators are not working and we should take the stairs to get in and out of the building (we're on the 9th floor!). Lucky for me that when it came to potty time, one elevator was working and we made it downstairs lickety-split. Too bad when we came back inside there was a huge line up to go upstairs on the elevator. Not so lucky for Papa who had to carry me half way up to the 9th floor (I have bad hips you know) via the stairs. I did him a favour and climbed the rest of the way up from the 5th floor. It's the most exercise we've gotten in a long time!

While I was outside doing my business, the fire department showed up again. Apparently there was a small fire in the garbage chute. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Thank You Papa

For taking care of me everyday. Especially since I am feeling sick today. I had an accidental poo in the house today. Papa was very nice to me and didn't get upset with me. I don't know why my tummy feels funny, but I do know that I need to go poo more often than usual. Papa cleaned me up well and gave me a pat on the head.

I'm not sure what it is that's making me sick. Maybe it's those new cookies that Mama bought for me from the grocery store. But cookies don't usually make me have a sick tummy or make me have a fever and the shakes. I hope this goes away soon. I'd be so embarrassed to have another accident in the house again.

Spring Time is in the Air

Happy days spring is on it's way! The sun is coming up earlier and setting later. Even though it's still a bit chilly outside, at least there isn't anymore snow and ice on the ground. And I get to go for more walks because Papa and Mama feel guilty for leaving me inside on such nice sunny days.

Some of the things I don't like so much about spring time, are the little surprise mounds of dog doo that have been frozen through winter and are now thawing out. It's not that I mind the smell of thawing poo, it's just if I don't watch where I step, well you get the picture. So I encourage all the dogs out there to insist that your parents clean up after you go potty. It's only the nice thing to do.

Last night Papa was watching the World Baseball Classic Japan vs Korea game. In the middle of the ninth inning, Mama had to hold his hand because he was so tense about the intense game. Unfortunately Japan lost 2-1, and Papa was devastated. I think he was inconsolable. But I think he feels better today because Mexico beat USA 2-1, which means that Japan advances to the final four. Japan plays Korea again on the weekend. I like watching baseball with Papa because he gets so excited and shouts at the tv in Japanese.

Lazy Days

Saturday once again. It's a lazy day for me today. I just like to roll around on the floor on my back and let the hours pass by without doing anything. It's a good time.

I heard that these scientists in Japan are looking to cow poo as a new source of gasoline. They have been able to extract a little bit of gasoline from some 100g of cow poo in this fancy apparatus and adding some secret metal catalysts. Now that's useful research!

And in another group in Japan, they have been able to extract vanillin from cow poo too, to use in perfumes and shampoos. Mama uses skatole in her research, and that's a component of poo, but she just smells like poo when she comes back from the lab. And that's not very useful research at all.
