Please Keep Voting!

Big "thank you's" to everyone who voted for me! But please continue to vote, even if you've already done so! I know it's like cheating to keep going back to vote for me, but it's not like I'm running to be the Prime Minister of Canada or anything like that.

My eye looks much better now. Not as red or goopy. And the best part of getting the eye drops is that Mama will give me a piece of cow lung for a treat afterwards. That makes it all worth while! I have to go back to see Dr. Vihos on Thursday to get it checked out. I'm sure she'll have positive things to say!

I get to visit with Uncle Brian's family for the upcoming long weekend. I'm so excited to be seeing them again! They treat me so well, I get to sleep on the couch, and I don't even have to do tricks to get treats! How great is that deal?

Hey check out this link to read my blog in Japanese (domo arigato friends in Japan)! It's sugoi! I do have to warn you that it's not translated perfectly but it's pretty darn good!

Vote for Aiko!

Please vote for me for the "Dog of the Month" at dogcentral.msn.com. Click the "Select a Breed" button on the bottom of the page and look for "Bulldog". My picture is kind of hard to find, but please take the time to look for me! Click on my picture and vote for me! I hope I win, I'd love to be featured!!

So I went to the vets today and saw Dr. Vihos (she's on the tv show Animal Housecalls on the CP24 channel sometimes). My left eye looks funny, it's all red and kind of goopy. Dr. Vihos used this little paper strip test called Schirmer's Tear Test to see if my eyes were producing enough tears. My right eye produces enough tears, but the left one is not as wet. Dr. Vihos thinks that I might have an infection and gave Mama some eye drops for me. At least it's not cherry eye, which is what Mama thought it was in the first place!! I have to go back to see Dr. Vihos in ten days to see if the eye has cleared up. I hope it does, I don't like this goopy stuff that comes out of my eye.

Happy Thursday

What's the deal with this weather? It's so hot and sticky. I can barely move through the sticky humidity. Good thing Mama and Papa don't walk me too much in this yucky stuff. It's so hot that I start to pant as soon as I get outside!

I hear it's supposed to cool down. I hope it rains to get rid of the humidity. Toronto is an odd place, where else can it be so hot and humid and then rain like crazy just to have the humidity stick around?

I like laying around with the air conditioner on. It makes it so comfy to fall asleep or play with my toy bear.

What do you do to beat the heat?

Otanjoubi Omedetou Papa!!

Happy Birthday Papa! I'm so glad that we both have birthdays in the same month! Papa you are the greatest, thank you so much for taking care of me and playing with me. I hope you have a fun day and that every day until your next birthday will be just as fun! Hooray for birthday celebrations!

July's Bulldog Meetup

It's that time of the month again: Bulldog Meetup Day! This time it was held indoors at Petopia where there is lots of air conditioning. Because if you know anything about bullies, you know we need that air con more than you do!

Here I am meeting some bullies for the second time. The brindle girl with the pink collar is Ruby, and she's a show girl! I don't remember the name of the white bully in the back, but we didn't really get on that well. The brown and white one in the front is Brioche, and we didn't get on so well either. I must admit, I am a toy hog and I can get quite aggressive with my toys. So when I don't share, I usually get into fights. Nobody wins because we end up getting pulled off each other by our parents.

Here is a picture of my war wounds, I bit my tongue. Or maybe someone else bit my tongue. Papa made me take a time out.

This guy looks scared of me, but I was really nice to him.
He's just a baby.

I don't know who this little girl is, but she was very fond of Mama. She kept coming over to Mama and putting her head on Mama's lap.
Maybe she could smell the lung treats that were hiding in Mama's pockets?

This orange ball with legs was very squeaky. It was the source of the two fights I got into, and caused other fights with some of the other bullies. Everyone wanted to play with it!

It's a game of tag!

How many bullies can you see?
Shortly after this pic, I got into my second fight. My face was bleeding quite a bit, but Mama washed it clean. I had to take another time out.

See? All better.

Remember this beautiful face from Woofstock?

Lots of puppies playing too!

Even though there was air conditioning, it was very hot and I was very thirsty.

This is Daisy, she's a toy hog too! But maybe not as bad as me, because she'll play tug with other dogs, and I don't. Check out her stylish pink toes!

I am guarding my tug toy, no one else can have it.
It's come to my attention that I have some behavioural issues that need to be addressed. Mama and Papa have agreed that I need to do more socializing. I suppose that means I need to find some dog friends. I don't know about you, but dogs smell funny. People are so much better to hang out with! But I'll try my best to be a good girl with other doggies. It'll be hard to break bad habits!

Lobster for Dinner

Papa got a lobster from St. Lawrence Market today. It was staring at me and wouldn't stop. Taunting me with one claw.

Too bad I already had my dinner, otherwise I would've showed that lobster who the boss was.

Meat Sweats

First thing I did this morning when I woke up was go back to work on that birthday bone.

You know when you eat so much meat that you start to feel all warm and get all sweaty? Yah I'm starting to feel that way now.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

I'm 4 years old today!

In human years, that makes me 29 years old!

Look what Papa got me for my special day! A cow's leg bone!!

This thing is MASSIVE!!

Tottemo oishii desu!!

Tanjoubi omedetou!

My Birthday Horoscope

You have a strong and overpowering personality and generally try to get your own way. Oh, what an adventure this brings to life! You are pulled by what inspires you versus what your senses may tell you. Spontaneous by nature, you need to be cautious and careful. You make many friends and few enemies. Although you are reserved and sensitive, you love deeply and wholeheartedly and may find those who understand you best born in September, October, December, January, April and May. Love and affection are in your cards!

My Long Weekend

I found this old bag that used to contain rice in the kitchen. Mama was going to throw it in the trash.

I took it into the bedroom and tried to tear it apart. But it was pretty tough. It was made from plastic and foil. A pretty strong combination for a rice sack.

I love eating rice. And chewing the bag it came in.

I like being destructive. It's a good stress reliever.

I had a very productive long weekend. What did you do?

Happy Birthday Canada!!

O Canada! Happy 139th birthday! I love that my country is unique in its diversity. So many different cultures, different religions, different identities, all living together and striving for peace. We learn to accept and embrace instead of just tolerate. We are a global village, and one that keeps growing and learning from each other. Canada is the best country in the world!

Today is also the first day that Harper's Conservative government is decreasing the GST from 7% to 6%. I hope this means that Mama and Papa will be saving more money (so they can spend it on me!) because they are always complaining about how little money they have.

What are you doing to celebrate Canada Day? Will you be watching fireworks? Going to a parade? Spending time with family and friends?

Happy Pride!!

I love a parade, and today's Pride Parade was a real spectacle! It was really too hot to stay outside for too long, so we saw a little bit and left for home. The air conditioning is so comfortable at home!

I hadn't posted any comments about Asia's loss in the World Cup because I was feeling a bit blue. But I'm done mourning now and I'm over it.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Canada Day long weekend. I hope both Mama and Papa can spend the day with me!

I'm Sad

The Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup. They beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. I was cheering for the Oilers because they were the underdogs and they played so well in game 6. But the Hurricanes took it all away. I guess if I were to look at it in a more optimistic way, the Oilers did get pretty darn far, especially for an underdog team! Next year the Cup is coming home to Canada.

Looks like I'll be watching more soccer now.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day Papa! You are sugoi!! Thank you for being so nice and taking care of me and Mama. I love it when you take me out for walks and tug-o-war too. My favourite is when you cuddle with me and let me snooze on the couch with you while you're watching sports.

Speaking of sports, boy did I tune into the World Cup games today! If you didn't watch, Japan and Croatia were both scoreless in their game (which means there's still hope!), Brazil beat Australia 2-0, and Korea Republic and France drew 1-1. I'm really rooting for the underdog (haha no pun intended - or was it?). Go Nippon!!

World Cup 2006

Are you watching the World Cup games? Are you keeping up with the victories? If not, have you been living in a cave this past week? I'm sure you are well aware that the tournament of the biggest sport on the planet has begun. Who are you cheering for? I'm cheering for everyone because my favourite team (Canada if you didn't know) isn't playing.

I love watching soccer because the ball races from one end of the tv screen to the other and I chase it with my eyes. I wish I had the energy to run like those athletes for the whole time. I think I'd be able to keep up for about 5 minutes and then I need a nap for 45 minutes.

This morning Korea Republic played Togo and they won 2-1! There were several Korean kids that were watching the game on the big screen tv one floor below mine, and they were just screaming and cheering when Korea scored. All that cheering was getting me excited too!

Woofstock 2006

This weekend is the annual Woofstock event. It's at St. Lawrence Market this year because it's so popular now that the Distillery District is too small to be the venue. Here are a couple of Frenchies, my bulldog cousins.

I met lots of new friends. This is a 1.5 year old Bullie named Rosie. She was really sweet!

I didn't get this guy's name, but he was a rescue from the States. He sits in this stroller and gets wheeled around everywhere because his legs don't work well anymore. Look at that gorgeous face! I wanted to give him kisses all day long!

Here's another guy. He was pretty huge! I like getting my bum scratched. I think that was the best part of today.

OK maybe these treats were the best part of today. Papa got me one beef bone, but I really wanted the whole tray.

Ooh these frozen treats are new! They're from Purina and they're made of soy protein. You can find them in the frozen food section of the grocery store. A box of 4 for $3.99!!

I ended up eating the whole thing. It was so oishii!! How can I get Mama to buy these for me?

I was just chilling in the shade when this Rottie behind me started rolling in the dirt. He was kicking up dust everywhere and made me dirty too. Not cool.

So I took a splash in a wading pool and got myself cleaned up and cooled off.

Check out this new red leather harness Mama bought me at Woofstock. It's supposed to not hurt my neck when I pull, and Papa says that he feels like he can control me better. Judging by all of the goodies I got today, I wonder just who is controlling who?
