Today I am a Lion

This is my savanna. I'm resting after a large meal of kibble that I had to hunt and chase down.

Beautiful day to lounge and nap and do lion-y things.
Oh and happy belated birthday to my Auntie Trish.
I couldn't get on the computer yesterday,
I'm sorry I couldn't wish you a happy birthday earlier.
Don't feel old Auntie Trish, I'm 4 years old, which means that I am 29 in human years!!
You can try to convert your age to dog years too!

Ashbridge's Bay

I went to see Dr. Heather Steede at the Downtown Animal Hospital this morning for my annual checkup. I was weighed (20.7 kg or 45.6 lbs!), poked (3 injections of 5 different vaccines), and prodded (internal temp was good!). And I got another bag of t/d Canine kibbles! I also got some new bling to add to my jewelry collection - a new rabies tag! It's gold and slammin.

As a treat after my annual checkup today, Papa took me to Ashbridge's Bay for a BBQ. It was a hot and steamy day, so I had to wear this ice pack underneath my harness to help cool me off.

I watched another group of people playing ball.
I wanted to play too. Can you spot the ball?

I was very thirsty today...I think I went through 2 litres of water.
Of course most of it ended up on the ground instead of inside my mouth.

There were some tasty looking burger patties on the grill. I was trying to do my cute routine to see if I could get myself a burger.

Too bad for me, everyone resisted my cute routine.
If only Uncle Brian were there, he'd give in for sure!

Look how pretty!

I had a good day today even though it was hot and muggy.
I love spending time with Mama and Papa!

Miss Manners

I may not be, but you should have seen this one dog I met this morning!

So I'm out having my morning walk, doing my morning routine. I just finished peeing on the usual spot, and was sniffing around the usual tree to get ready to have a poo. When all of a sudden, this unleashed little white dog with dyed blue and green ears and tail comes running over and barks in my face! I'm trying to take a dump in peace and he ruins my concentration!

Anyway, he barks and stares and wags his tail nervously. I just stare at him while Mama is saying soothing things in my ear thinking I'd eat him if he got any closer. I just wanted to see what he was all about, in a friendly way. But as soon as I tried to go over, he freaked out! And snarled and barked some more. That was a weird encounter. But the even weirder thing is that there was another dog across the street and he ran over there to do the same thing to the other dog too! So bizarre!! That blue and green eared-tailed monster needs a bell around his neck to warn other dogs of his arrival. Needless to say I didn't get to poo, and now I feel all stuffed up and grumpy.

I'm So Lazy These Days

It must be the weather or something. I'm just laying around and doing nothing. I'm not really feeling ambitious these days, so the posts are not as frequent as they should be. I'm sorry for making you wait.

I'm scheduled to go back to the vets for my annual checkup and get some vaccinations. I'm due for my rabies shot and that one hurts like mad. Mama has to bring in a poo sample too, so the technicians can see if they can find nasties like worms. I don't think you realize just how smelly my poo is, and I feel sorry for Mama having to carry that all the way to the vets - but not really! Ha ha!

Finally I'd like to send some well wishes to my Auntie Frances who went back to Vancouver earlier this week. I'll miss you! Good luck with everything, and I hope you come back to visit me in the future!!

August's Bulldog Meetup

It's that time of the month again, Bulldog Meetup time!

This is Zoe, you'll see more of her later on. She's very feisty, like me!

I just don't really get how these bullies can play wrestle like that.
With all of the toys lying around, how do they resist them?

Yup, I bit my tongue again. Same place as last time.
I was fighting over a toy. I had to take a time out.

Look how small this puppy is!
I can't believe I used to be that size before.

We took a break from all of the other dogs to play on the slide.
Getting up to the top was a little tough, so I had a little bit of help from Papa.

I also needed a little bit of help coming down too. I was scared!

This is feisty Zoe again. We seemed cool with each other for a few minutes, but I'm not quite sure what happened next, because she turned and we fought a little.
I guess we were both having bad days.

This actually looks much worse than it really is. It's mostly snot with a little bit of blood! It doesn't hurt at all, but it does look kind of scary. I'm OK though. Mama and Papa are a bit frustrated with me because I like to fight so much. They don't know what to do, but they'll keep taking me back to the Meetups for the socialization.
I think I was just having a grumpy day.

Good Eats

We took a walk to the vets today to return some Aquadent. It's this green liquid that's supposed to be added to my water and it's supposed to make my mouth and teeth all clean. Well I tried it once, and that was the last time. It made the water taste funny. It reminds me of being in Mama's lab. But look what I got instead! A big bag of t/d Canine kibbles!

The kibbles are supposed to help clean my teeth and keep the bacteria in my mouth at a lower level so I don't get stinky breath. Papa says the kibble smells like a mix of dirty sweaty feet and dirty sweaty underwear that's been sitting at the bottom of the laundry basket for three weeks.

I don't care what it smells like, I think it's delicious and I'll eat it over drinking that rank Aquadent water any day! What do you drool over?

On the Move

The August English Bulldog Meetup is this upcoming Saturday. I want to try to make a good impression this time, because last time, I didn't exactly play nice.

I've been trying to be a very good girl every time I meet someone new. I try not to charge the other dogs and I try to not jump on them first. I sniff their bums and I let them sniff mine. I think I still need a lot of work because sometimes I forget and I fall back into bad habits.

I also appreciate dogs who are also trying to be nice to me too. But I don't like those little yappy dogs, you know the ones that fit in your pocket, but they think they are big and ferocious. They always want to start something.

Wanna be pals with me? Have a sniff!

Chillaxing in August

Mama and Papa are both trying to fight colds that they got from Natsu Gasshuku last weekend. I'm also feeling a bit under the weather with a runny nose and extra tiredness. But there's nothing like a little watermelon to cure the ailments of a common cold!

Tastes divine!

One of my favourite things to do when I go for my walks is to stop and smell the flowers. I don't have a particular favourite, I just like to smell them all. I think I might even be allergic to some of them, which would explain my runny nose!

This one just smells green.

If you get a chance, please visit my new found friend: AIKO. She is a French Bulldog (my cousin!) from Japan and she has a blog too!! I feel a strong connection to her because we share the same name! Her blog is much nicer than mine, she must spend a lot of time trying to make it pretty. I should spend more time doing that too - maybe I would make more friends that way.

I'm Back from Vacation!

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. M., Uncles Mel, Adrian, and Brian for taking care of me on my vacation.

I mostly sat on the balcony and watched the trains and cars go zooming by on my vacation. I just love relaxing and doing nothing. I think I deserve it, I work so hard everyday. I also got to meet some other dogs that are not in my neighbourhood. I tried to play nice in front of my Uncles, but... I sometimes forgot.

I'm happy to be home too, I missed Mama and Papa. What did you do on your summer vacation?

I'm Going on a Summer Vacation

So I'll be away from the computer for a few days. I'm working on changing the overall look of the blog. Tell me what you think, I'm all ears to your suggestions!

The Second Last Long Weekend of Summer

Wow that's a long title! But sadly this upcoming weekend will be the second last long one of the summer. And then it'll be winter time soon, snow, ice, cold, eggnog...

I'm going to visit with Uncle Mel and his family this weekend. I can't wait! I've already packed everything I need: my stuffed bear, tennis balls, Kong, cookies, and peanut butter. It'll be so nice to get away from Mama and Papa for a few days - not that I don't love them, it's just sometimes we all need a vacation from the routine.

So I saw Dr. Vihos today and we did the tear test again. I scored a 25!! Much better than last time's score of 18. I don't need those eye drops anymore. I also met a Pug/Jack Russell puppy today. He was only 10 weeks old and so full of energy! I hope he got as many liver snacks as I did.

Have a good long weekend!

Please Keep Voting!

Big "thank you's" to everyone who voted for me! But please continue to vote, even if you've already done so! I know it's like cheating to keep going back to vote for me, but it's not like I'm running to be the Prime Minister of Canada or anything like that.

My eye looks much better now. Not as red or goopy. And the best part of getting the eye drops is that Mama will give me a piece of cow lung for a treat afterwards. That makes it all worth while! I have to go back to see Dr. Vihos on Thursday to get it checked out. I'm sure she'll have positive things to say!

I get to visit with Uncle Brian's family for the upcoming long weekend. I'm so excited to be seeing them again! They treat me so well, I get to sleep on the couch, and I don't even have to do tricks to get treats! How great is that deal?

Hey check out this link to read my blog in Japanese (domo arigato friends in Japan)! It's sugoi! I do have to warn you that it's not translated perfectly but it's pretty darn good!

Vote for Aiko!

Please vote for me for the "Dog of the Month" at dogcentral.msn.com. Click the "Select a Breed" button on the bottom of the page and look for "Bulldog". My picture is kind of hard to find, but please take the time to look for me! Click on my picture and vote for me! I hope I win, I'd love to be featured!!

So I went to the vets today and saw Dr. Vihos (she's on the tv show Animal Housecalls on the CP24 channel sometimes). My left eye looks funny, it's all red and kind of goopy. Dr. Vihos used this little paper strip test called Schirmer's Tear Test to see if my eyes were producing enough tears. My right eye produces enough tears, but the left one is not as wet. Dr. Vihos thinks that I might have an infection and gave Mama some eye drops for me. At least it's not cherry eye, which is what Mama thought it was in the first place!! I have to go back to see Dr. Vihos in ten days to see if the eye has cleared up. I hope it does, I don't like this goopy stuff that comes out of my eye.

Happy Thursday

What's the deal with this weather? It's so hot and sticky. I can barely move through the sticky humidity. Good thing Mama and Papa don't walk me too much in this yucky stuff. It's so hot that I start to pant as soon as I get outside!

I hear it's supposed to cool down. I hope it rains to get rid of the humidity. Toronto is an odd place, where else can it be so hot and humid and then rain like crazy just to have the humidity stick around?

I like laying around with the air conditioner on. It makes it so comfy to fall asleep or play with my toy bear.

What do you do to beat the heat?

Otanjoubi Omedetou Papa!!

Happy Birthday Papa! I'm so glad that we both have birthdays in the same month! Papa you are the greatest, thank you so much for taking care of me and playing with me. I hope you have a fun day and that every day until your next birthday will be just as fun! Hooray for birthday celebrations!

July's Bulldog Meetup

It's that time of the month again: Bulldog Meetup Day! This time it was held indoors at Petopia where there is lots of air conditioning. Because if you know anything about bullies, you know we need that air con more than you do!

Here I am meeting some bullies for the second time. The brindle girl with the pink collar is Ruby, and she's a show girl! I don't remember the name of the white bully in the back, but we didn't really get on that well. The brown and white one in the front is Brioche, and we didn't get on so well either. I must admit, I am a toy hog and I can get quite aggressive with my toys. So when I don't share, I usually get into fights. Nobody wins because we end up getting pulled off each other by our parents.

Here is a picture of my war wounds, I bit my tongue. Or maybe someone else bit my tongue. Papa made me take a time out.

This guy looks scared of me, but I was really nice to him.
He's just a baby.

I don't know who this little girl is, but she was very fond of Mama. She kept coming over to Mama and putting her head on Mama's lap.
Maybe she could smell the lung treats that were hiding in Mama's pockets?

This orange ball with legs was very squeaky. It was the source of the two fights I got into, and caused other fights with some of the other bullies. Everyone wanted to play with it!

It's a game of tag!

How many bullies can you see?
Shortly after this pic, I got into my second fight. My face was bleeding quite a bit, but Mama washed it clean. I had to take another time out.

See? All better.

Remember this beautiful face from Woofstock?

Lots of puppies playing too!

Even though there was air conditioning, it was very hot and I was very thirsty.

This is Daisy, she's a toy hog too! But maybe not as bad as me, because she'll play tug with other dogs, and I don't. Check out her stylish pink toes!

I am guarding my tug toy, no one else can have it.
It's come to my attention that I have some behavioural issues that need to be addressed. Mama and Papa have agreed that I need to do more socializing. I suppose that means I need to find some dog friends. I don't know about you, but dogs smell funny. People are so much better to hang out with! But I'll try my best to be a good girl with other doggies. It'll be hard to break bad habits!
