Kick Starting Spring Cleaning

So the washing machine in our apartment broke
down about 3 weeks ago and we finally got a new
replacement for it yesterday.
You should have seen the mountain of dirty
clothes hiding in the corner of the room!
They were really nice to sleep on!

We ended up doing 8 loads of laundry!!
I asked Mama to give my toys a bath too.
Don't they look like they need a little refreshment?

I always feel so guilty putting my toys into the wash.
They look scared to me...

I'm also afraid they're going to drown in all that water.
But the new washing machine is a front-loader,
that means it uses 2/3 less water than the
normal top loader ones.
Less water means less detergent, means less waste,
means less money spent!!! Yay!

I wonder if they get dizzy during the spin cycle.
I know I do just watching them.

Don't you think my toys like brighter after a bath?

And out of the dryer they come,
right back to me!
Ahh...I love clean toys!

New Year's Dinner

Mama made steamed fish for Lunar New Year dinner.
It looked so tasty, and Papa agreed,
but Mama thought it tasted too fishy.

I forgot to show you the feast that Papa made for me
for Valentines Day: a cream cheesy tomato soup;
filet mignon cooked just right - rare!
it had a great cranberry-sauce; a sweet potato
and carrot veg (arranged in heart shapes!);
and ice cold gingerale to wash it all down with!

And Papa got me flowers too! My favourite kind - tiger lilies!
Just kidding, this was all for Mama,
I never get spoiled like she does!

Happy Lunar New Year!

I want to wish a Happy Lunar New Year to all of my friends
who celebrate and to all of my friends who don't,
but still celebrate by association with friends who do!
Oh you know what I mean!

It's the year of the pig, and Mama made these
shortbread piggies for the festivities.
I read my horoscope, I'm a horse (like Papa) and it's
supposed to be an unpredictable year.
Mama's a snake, and her horoscope says it's going to be
a bad year because snakes and pigs don't get along.
Who believes in this junk anyway?
Let's eat and be merry instead!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's that time of the year again, Valentine's Day.

I don't usually celebrate. Neither does Mama.
But Papa loves this day.
It's a Japanese thing he says.

The part I like best about Valentine's Day:

the kisses!

Happy Febuary

It's Feb 4 today and it's freezing cold. The temperature is -14C with a windchill of -26C, that's just ridiculous! Two days ago, a couple of groundhogs predicted an early spring because they didn't see their shadows. Sure doesn't feel like spring is anywhere near us!

Mama loves it when I lay like this, she says it reminds her of a turkey. It doesn't hurt when my back legs are splayed out like this, but I don't do it very often.

Like always, I love cuddling on my warm couch when it's blistering cold outside.
